Manhattan’s most luxurious residence
A duplex penthouse on Manhattan’s West 57th Street has set a record for the most expensive single residence in New York. An undisclosed buyer has paid around $90 million for the apartment. Gary Barnett, president of developer Extell Development Co., hasn’t disclosed the actual price it went for, but said the apartment sold for around $8000 per square foot.
The 11,000 square-foot penthouse is still under construction but, once complete, will feature 23-foot ceilings, rosewood flooring, and panoramic views over Central Park, Midtown Manhattan, and both the East and Hudson Rivers. It will also boast Italian marble and custom hardware and light fixtures. It is situated at the top of One57, one of the tallest buildings in Manhattan, just south of Central Park.
